Local Wierd!
I decided to start adding pictures that I take around Playa of interesting things, it will be in a category called “Local Wierd!”
I was inspired to start this when I ran into a 30ft. tall inflatable condom on the corner of Colosio and 40th. After further inspection I noticed that it is an advertisement for safe sex, which is a pretty noble cause. I guess it makes it easy to give directions to local businesses.
The next local wierd entry is a little sign I saw on 45th while waiting for the light. Maybe mariachis are a problem in this neighborhood?

i saw that giant condom the other day and did a double take! i just about died laughing! i might have to steal your idea about the local weird topic – living here you always see something a bit strange . . .
where i live there are a few houses with signs for “pollo recien matados” – recently dead chickens! couldn’t they just put “pollo fresco” – fresh chicken? i asked my boyfriend if it was correct to say pollo recien matados and he said not as far as he knew. him being a chilango, we figured it must be a yucatecan thing, since we saw it multiple times . . . i need to take a photo.
I’ve also seen this giant condom before, but not only that, an entire celebration with live music and activities promoting safe sex. I’m at work now and don’t have the pictures, but I’ll add them when I get home. Too funny!
